Smile at school: promotion and prevention of oral health as an act of care and citizenship

Abstract

Based on the difficulty of accessing dental health services, the lack of information for the vulnerable population and the challenge faced by public health teams responsible for covering a population, the project aims to develop actions to promote oral health and basic dental clinical care aimed at children and adults living in socially vulnerable communities in the state of Amazonas. The results revealed the precariousness of oral health in both communities, with the highest number of tooth extractions in the state capital. With this, we can observe the need to implement broad health promotion measures, combined with greater supply and easier access to oral health services. It is concluded that regardless of the region, oral health is precarious and requires greater attention from the Brazilian population and governments so that measures can be taken, so that there is a natural scenario where the health of the population living in this region is consolidated.
