Abstract

The "Contemporary Periodontics" project, held weekly at Faculdade do Amazonas - IAES, stands out as a crucial initiative to address the need for treatment of various periodontal pathologies, which represents a public health challenge. These extension actions play a significant role in mitigating the lack of care for the population, at the same time that they provide students with essential clinical experience for the diagnosis and monitoring of different forms of treatment studied in the literature, covering both conventional and advances in contemporary periodontics. In this way, the project not only contributes to the promotion of oral health, but also prepares students to face clinical challenges and strengthens the connection between academia and the needs of the community.
