Abstract

Gingival recession (GR) is a pathological manifestation in the oral cavity, highlighting the apical migration of the marginal gingiva, resulting in exposure of the root surface. GR is multifactorial, with predisposing factors, such as variations in developmental morphology, and precipitating factors, such as harmful habits. Therapeutic approaches to root coverage focus on soft tissue, including grafts, hyaluronic acid and biomaterials as autogenous connective tissue substitutes. The objective of this study was to present a clinical case of root coverage used in the treatment of a unilateral gingival recession of type RT3, located in tooth 43 associated with the use of biomaterials, such as synthetic bone graft and collagen matrix. APMS patient, female, Caucasian, 30 years old, attended the integrated clinic of Faculdade do Amazonas – IAES with the main complaint: “I am feeling sensitivity in my tooth” During the intraoral clinical examination, gingival recession was observed in element 43. The plan proposed treatment was root coverage with the coronally repositioned flap technique associated with a graft with biomaterials (bone and collagen membrane) in element 43. It was concluded that the application of biomaterials, such as synthetic bone graft and collagen matrix, resulted in results highly satisfactory in the treatment of unilateral gingival recession. The strategic integration of these approaches made it possible to create an environment favorable to bone regeneration and effective coverage of the affected area, promoting not only aesthetic improvements, but also significant functional restoration.
