Abstract

Some authors describe the torus as a congenital bone protuberance, but which has a benign nature, which in turn is called exostosis. These are bone growths located on the cortical surface of the bones. According to research carried out, the highest prevalence occurs with male patients located on the Asian continent, more precisely Chinese and Indian. The relevance of this research for the academic population, future dental professionals and the general population occurs due to the relevance of knowledge about the mandibular torus and its relationship with the number of cases that can cause difficulties in chewing or even create obstacles for implants. dental. Therefore, the objective of this work was to report a right unilateral torus removal surgery and then installation of a dental implant in this region. This is a case report of a male patient, 46 years old, presenting exostosis, describing as a complaint The main difficulty in performing a dental implant. Therefore, clinical and radiographic evaluation was carried out so that the mandibular torus could be surgically removed. As a result, the removal of the exostosis allowed the patient to undergo rehabilitation with a dental implant in the mandible without obstacles.
