Application of Thermography in Odontological Diagnostics

Thermography is a non-invasive technique that allows for the analysis of body temperature through infrared radiation detection, proving useful in identifying areas of potential inflammation. This article aims to review the literature on the applications of thermography in Dentistry, highlighting its fields of use and methods of implementation. The research was conducted using databases such as PubMed and Google Scholar, with descriptors in both Portuguese and English, selecting full-text articles published between 1983 and 2022. The analyzed studies demonstrate the potential of thermography in dental diagnosis; however, they also reveal the need for more specialty-specific research, as well as the standardization of protocols for its effective clinical use.
